Built by a first-year homeowner, for the next one.
Kempt is a small thing made by one person, in a house, for people in houses. Here's how it got here.
Why I built this.
A year into our house, the list in my head was longer than the one on paper, and most of it was the kind of thing I wouldn't think about until something broke. The filter I'd forgotten. The dryer-vent lint I didn't know to check. The water heater I had no idea how old it was.
Most of the apps I tried wanted me to be a project manager. I'm not a project manager. I'm a guy with a house. I wanted something more like a handy uncle who'd already renovated three houses and would just tell me what mattered.
So I built one.
kempt
/kɛmpt/ · adjective
Kept neat and clean.
(the opposite of unkempt)
Made at Garford House.
Kempt was built at Garford House, the place that taught it everything it knows about houses. The mark, the voice, the masthead. All of it traces back to a kitchen table there, and the long-running list of small things every house quietly asks for.
Come along for the build.
Beta launch coming soon. We'll email you when it opens. The Sunday Brief lives in the app after that.
